HistoryThe agency was formed in the late 1950's as Porter County Society for Crippled Children and Adults, Easter Seal Society. In 1975, the agency was incorporated as Porter County Association for Handicapped Children and Adults. We are a not-for-profit organization run by a board of volunteers.

PurposeP.C.A.H.C.A. provides financial aid for handicapped children and adults residing in Porter County to help improve daily living in times of economic hardship.

EligibilityFor each applicant, the service chairperson investigates alternative resources available to assist with the request. Federal, state, and insurance funding is used first followed by other sources like United Cerebral Palsy or CHildren's Special Health Services. Once the existing community resources are exhausted, the board determines how to successfully assist the family or individual with allocations available from the agency.
